Comparing SEO Plugins for Article Writing: Features, Volumes, Difficulties

Testing SEO Plugin Features with SERP Lookup

In the video, I tested the SERP lookup capabilities of four SEO plugins available in GPT-3: SEO Assistant, Brainwork, SEO App, and SEO Core AI. I prompted each one to return the top 5 ranking URLs in Google for the keyword "chatgpt for SEO".

SEO Assistant and Brainwork failed to even attempt the task. SEO App and SEO Core AI tried to retrieve data but returned completely irrelevant and incorrect results. However, Web Pilot, the search automation tool, successfully returned the exact top 5 ranking URLs I cross-checked in Google - Neil Patel, Search Engine Journal, Ahrefs, SEO AI, and Forbes.

Web Pilot Retrieves Accurate SERP Data

When prompted to get the top URLs for "chatgpt for SEO", Web Pilot correctly returned Neil Patel, Search Engine Journal, Ahrefs, SEO AI, and Forbes in order. This matches the actual Google SERP. None of the dedicated SEO plugins were able to retrieve the accurate ranking URLs. Web Pilot demonstrated superior capabilities in analyzing real-world SERPs.

Other Plugins Struggle with Keyword Research

I tested the plugins' ability to retrieve search volume and keyword difficulty scores for "chatgpt for SEO". The estimates varied wildly between different tools. Brainwork pulled data seemingly from SEMrush. SEO App failed to provide specific estimates. SEO Core AI was completely unable to attempt the task. The plugins clearly lack reliable data sources.

Evaluating Keyword Search Volumes and Difficulty Scores

For the core keyword "chatgpt for SEO", SEO Assistant estimated a very low 60 monthly searches and 28 KD score. However, checks on Ahrefs, Google Keyword Planner, and SEMrush showed figures in the 100-1000 range and 30-45 KD.

Brainwork provided estimates of 210 searches and 44 KD, likely mirrored from SEMrush. SEO App and SEO Core AI failed to even provide volume or difficulty estimates.

Brainwork Provides Reasonable Estimates

While the other plugins struggled, Brainwork returned reasonable figures for search volume (210) and keyword difficulty (44) that matched my cross-check on SEMrush. This suggests that Brainwork may leverage SEMrush's database directly. Still, accuracy is limited to that data source.

Other Plugins Lack Reliable Data Sources

The search volume and keyword difficulty estimates from SEO Assistant seemed completely made up and inaccurate. SEO App and SEO Core AI could not provide any estimates at all, indicating they likely do not have access to reliable keyword data.

Analyzing Article Writing and Optimization Capabilities

I got each plugin to generate a detailed, SEO-optimized article on the topic "can dogs eat longan". I analyzed the word count and SEO score in Jarvis to judge quality.

Article length ranged from 320 to 433 words. But SEO Core AI achieved the highest Jarvis score at 58, followed by Web Pilot at 48.

SEO Core AI Generates High-Scoring Content

While its keyword research was subpar, SEO Core AI produced the most optimized article according to Jarvis's scoring. It had rich formatting, lists, and managed a score of 58 which was 10 points higher than the next best plugin.

Text Length and Relevance Vary Widely

There was a wide range in article length, from 320 to 433 words across the different plugins. Some plugins like Brainwork produced relatively irrelevant text, likely due to limitations in understanding the initial prompt.

Conclusions and Recommendations

No single SEO plugin exceeded at every test. Web Pilot topped for SERP analysis, Brainwork for volume data, SEO Core AI for optimized articles.

Consider using multiple plugins in conjunction based on their individual strengths to inform robust SEO strategies.
