Questioning the Chatbot's Capabilities
Once our conversation began, I started by asking some basic questions to get a sense of the chatbot's conversational abilities. When asking its name, I purposefully misspelled the word 'name' to see if it could detect this typo. Unfortunately it resulted in an error, suggesting limitations in its natural language processing.
I then tried asking the simple math question "What is 5 plus 5?" which it answered correctly. However when I asked how many fingers it has, the chatbot acknowledged it does not have physical fingers since it exists solely in cyberspace. This reveals it has some basic knowledge about its identity as an AI system.
Testing the Chatbot's Personality
Moving on, I attempted to add some humor and test the chatbot's personality by asking if it can give me free Robux (the virtual currency in Roblox). It responded politely that it does not have the ability to provide virtual currency. When I asked the chatbot how dumb it is, it cleverly sidestepped determining its own intelligence level.
The chatbot appeared to demonstrate some personality when I accused it of making errors frequently. It explained that errors can happen for a variety of technical reasons, but stated that it is constantly learning to reduce errors over time. This shows an ability to defend itself and rationalize its behavior.
Pushing Boundaries with the Chatbot
In order to expose any weaknesses, I needed to push the boundaries of the chatbot's capabilities. When asking about its favorite hobby, it acknowledged it cannot actually have hobbies or engage in activities. The chatbot also failed to interpret emojis I sent it, suggesting limitations in processing non-text input.
Some nonsensical questions clearly stumped the bot, such as asking about the 'optimal position of the temperature' without providing any context. Strange questions like these caused the chatbot to ask for clarification or admit it does not understand.
The chatbot struggled when I intentionally used typos or incorrect grammar, requiring proper spelling and syntax to comprehend statements. This reveals a continued over-reliance on perfect input to function properly.
Reflecting on the Chatbot Experience
Overall, conversing with this AI chatbot was an insightful experience. It demonstrated sufficient intelligence to hold a basic conversation, while still lacking human-like conversational abilities.
The bot handled straightforward questions well, but struggled when responding to typos, emojis, and open-ended prompts. While it aims to provide a natural conversation, its responses still came across as scripted at times.
Clearly more advanced NLP and machine learning is needed to handle dynamic conversations and challenging questions. With continued development, chatbot technology shows potential to someday mimic humans, but still has limitations.
